Physiotherapy at Phoenix Physio starts with a proper assessment and continues with a plan that changes as you do. Our Rutherford Road clinic in Concord combines hands-on care, guided exercise and modern modalities to help you move with less pain.
Physiotherapy is a degree-based healthcare profession. Physiotherapists use their knowledge of how the body moves to assess, treat and help prevent problems affecting your muscles, joints, nerves, heart and lungs. The goal is simple: help you get back to the activities that matter to you, and stay there.
Your physiotherapist looks at the whole picture: where it hurts, how you move, what you do day to day and what you want to get back to. From there, treatment usually combines hands-on techniques, exercise you can continue at home and, where appropriate, modalities such as shockwave, laser or interferential therapy.
Physiotherapy can help with conditions across several body systems:
Patients come to us after sports injuries, car accidents, concussions, long days at a desk, or simply when an ache has hung around longer than it should.
Fine filament needles used to release tight, painful muscle bands.
Low-level laser applied to the treatment area as part of your plan.
Acoustic pulses commonly used for stubborn tendon problems.
Electrotherapy used alongside exercise and hands-on care.
Jaw pain, clicking and restricted opening.
Dizziness triggered by changes in head position.
Rebuilding strength, balance and everyday function.
Breathing techniques and exercise for lung conditions.
Looking at how you run to understand recurring pain.
Pain on the outside of the elbow and forearm.
Pain on the inside of the elbow and forearm.
We don't run an assembly-line treatment plan. Your physiotherapist does a quick evaluation at every visit to check that your plan still fits how you're progressing, then adjusts it.
Most plans combine three things: hands-on treatment such as manual therapy and soft-tissue work, individualized exercise that's taught and progressed in the clinic so you can carry it on at home or at the gym, and, where it helps, one of the treatments listed above, such as dry needling or shockwave therapy.
First visit. We'll talk through your history and goals, then assess your movement, strength and the area that's bothering you. You'll leave with an explanation of what we found and a treatment plan.
Follow-up visits. Each session starts with a short check-in and re-evaluation, followed by treatment and exercise progressions.
Paperwork. We check your insurance, accept most insurance plans, and can help with forms and physician referrals.

We're open seven days a week, with evening appointments until 8:30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

You can book physiotherapy directly without a referral. Some insurance plans do ask for a physician's referral before they reimburse treatment, so check your policy. We can help with forms and physician referrals if you need them.
Many extended health plans cover physiotherapy. We accept most insurance plans and can check your coverage with you before you start, so there are no surprises.
Comfortable clothing that lets you move freely and gives access to the area being treated, for example shorts for a knee problem or a tank top for a shoulder.
It depends on your condition, how long you've had it and your goals. Your physiotherapist will give you an honest estimate after your assessment and review it as you progress.
We're at 1801 Rutherford Rd, Unit B1, Concord, ON L4K 5R7. Call (905) 832-1110 if you need directions.
